Meet The Crew: Lights Out New England Angling Club

With the official launch of the 14 new professional angling clubs competing in SFCs new format, get to know the names, logos and faces behind the new era of competitive offshore fishing. Introducing Lights Out New England Angling Club

Behind the Lights Out name
The Lights Out name has multiple meanings: The club’s 62’ Viking “Lights Out” is an original SFC team from the open era based in Pocasset, Massachusetts and skippered by Captain Rob Carmichael. The moniker also pays homage to Paul Revere’s 1775 midnight ride. Two lanterns were hung in the steeple of Boston’s Old North Church, alerting Revere of British troops heading by sea to Lexington and Concord. As the lights went out, Revere set off to alert Colonial forces of the approaching Red Coats. 2025, Light's Out Angling Club's Inaugural Season, marks the 250th Anniversary of Revere’s Midnight Ride

Behind The Angling Club Logo & Colors
The logo is inspired by Boston Light on Little Brewster Island. Prior to its completion in 1716, navigating the many islands and narrows of New England North of Cape Cod was a daunting task. Destroyed by the British during the Revolutionary War, the current Boston Lighthouse has stood since 1783, being raised to its current height in 1856. 

The Angling Club’s bright yellow represents the shining light of the lighthouse and black for the darkness of night when the lights go out.

The Squad 
Captain Rob Carmichael and his son/first mate Tucker Carmichael are the faces of the team, which finished second last year in the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs; the last championship of SFC’s open era. Other than fishing alongside his family, Tucker has picked up experience as a mate for other boats as well over the years. What his mentor passed down to him is the mantra: “He who works the hardest, wins the most.” After coming within a couple fish of the title last year, expect Lights Out New England to be all-business this season.
