(DALLAS, TX, MAY 5, 2025) – Sport Fishing Championship (SFC) has opened bidding for the purchase rights to two of its league-operated angling clubs: Alabama Angling Club and South Florida Sails Angling Club. The exclusive promotional territory for Alabama Angling Club includes the entire state of Alabama, including three top-100 Designated Market Areas (DMAs), with Birmingham-Anniston-Tuscaloosa being in the top 50. Spanning from Palm Beach County down to Marathon in the Florida Keys, South Florida Sails represents a top-50 market in West Palm Beach and a top-25 DMA in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, boasting a metro-population of over 6MM.
Announced in September of last year, the new SFC professional angling club format attracted ownership groups led by world no. 1 PGA golfer Scottie Scheffler, Oakland Raiders RB Raheem Mostert, NASCAR driver Austin Dillon, LIV golfers Talor Gooch and Harold Varner III, NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss, country music star Brian Kelley among others.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to join an exponentially growing sports league riding a wave of momentum,” SFC Commissioner and CEO Mark Neifeld said. “This elite group of owners are visionaries in their respective fields and are charting a historic course together to advance competitive fishing to unprecedented heights.”
14 professional Angling Clubs currently compete in SFC, evenly split between divisions in the Atlantic and Gulf. The season concludes in October with the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs.
The 2025 season began in April with SFC’s The Catch, powered by Verizon, a made for TV exhibition pro-am event pairing the league’s new Angling Clubs with superstars and legends of the NFL. Competition is in the early stages of the regular season, with the Hurricane Hole Louisiana Open presented by XTRATUF, the third tournament of the season and second of the Gulf Division taking place this week in Grand Isle, Louisiana.
Also in April, SFC announced a historic media rights deal with ESPN, bringing more than 70 hours of live coverage in the US on ESPN+ and distributed internationally to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean on ESPN via Disney+. The Catch, powered by Verizon aired on ESPN2.
In its search to identify the strongest bids to support its ambitious growth goals, SFC prioritizes core attributes from potential owners, including efforts to grow fan interest and commitment to advancements in technology to enhance presentation.
